For many years, Jane came to Montreat during the summer, working in the Clubs, the Assembly Inn and the Hometown Cafeteria as a teenaged waitress. She also worked in Yellowstone in "A Ministry in the National Parks." Her family has been coming to Montreat since 1905 when her great-grand father, Edgar Llewelyn Ferran, was on one of the early boards. Following this, her grandfather, Clarence Ferran, brought his family here and rented the Anderson Home on Texas Road.

She knows most of the residents in the area and is a close friend of Billy Graham and all his family.
